regio in finib. Graeciae, in longum ad Atticam se protendens, tria respicit maria, Peloponnesiacum, Siculum et Adriaticum, ab Attica Cithaerone monte discreata, ut nonnulli volunt, a bove, cuius ductus Cadmus pervenit ad eum locum, ubi posted Thebas Boeotias condidir. Ovid. Met. l. 3. v. 9.
